Carter: "Overwhelming Portion" Of "Animosity" Toward Obama Due To Race NBC Nightly News reported that yesterday "in Atlanta, former President Carter spoke up and spoke out against what he has seen emerging in some of the public protests against President Obama." Carter said in an interview, "I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African-American."Time and time again when it has been said that the conservatives who did not want Obama as POTUS were racist my rebuke was always that many of us who don't want him would have been very happy with Condoleezza Rice.
