I was wondering what you think about this ridiculous health care talk out there.
This is just one more reminder that the private sector and competitive market forces, not the federal government, are the best means to meeting our country's rapidly expanding health care needs.
I was looking for a way to try and do something positive about it, and just signed a petition with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce here to help emphasize that. We need to get involved!

Janet,
I have only two words for you: England, France!!!
Seriously, If you look at the health care in those two countries you can see exactly what is going to happen to ours. As it stands, we already have two government run health care plans in this country - Medicare, and Medicaid. Medicare is run at the Federal level, and Medicaid is run at the state level. Medicare is run so poorly that many doctors and medical practitioners have been refusing to accept any patients with that program, because the doctor or clinic do not get reimbursed enough.
When the government run health care plans are already a failure, what makes anyone think that a NEW government run health care plan will be a success? We don't have to guess at what the government will do, we can see what they do right now!
I hear about all of these people that don't have health care and then I meet them. I will admit there are some people that genuinely fall through the cracks, they don't have enough money to afford medical, especially if they have chronic issues, and earn too much to qualify for Medicaid. They are the exceptions! The vast majority of people I know without medical insurance are that way because it is not a priority for them, they would rather have that third car or that vacation than pay for the insurance or save an emergency slush fund.
