British holidaymakers staged an unprecedented mutiny - refusing to allow their flight to take off until two men they feared were terrorists were forcibly removed.
The extraordinary scenes happened after some of the 150 passengers on a Malaga-Manchester flight overheard two men of Asian appearance apparently talking Arabic.
Passengers told cabin crew they feared for their safety and demanded police action. Some stormed off the Monarch Airlines Airbus A320 minutes before it was due to leave the Costa del Sol at 3am. Others waiting for Flight ZB 613 in the departure lounge refused to board it.
Here's the worst part: It's 99.999% likely that those two men were simply traveling somewhere, without any hostile intent. But people are recognizing that the government, both in the UK and here in the USA, is more interested in PC politics than any kind of real security. And in the face of a government who will not deal with the reality of islamic terrorism, the citizens will take steps to protect themselves.
And that's pretty damn scary, when you think of it. No matter how heavy handed the government can be, mob rule is generally worse.
Could this be the beginning of a backlash? Possibly. More likely it was simply people who are fed up with the lack of any realistic response by the government who is supposed to deal with these issues. Although, if it gets the government to actually deal with islamic terrorism in a realistic light, it could end up being a good thing. But based on what I've seen, the government will keep doing what it's doing, and people will simply get more and more upset until they take many matters into their own hands.
