Fox reports on a speech by President Bush citing justification for removing Saddam
Important part:
The White House has long portrayed Libya's pledge to abandon programs to develop weapons of mass destruction as affirmation of Bush's hard-line strategy on arms proliferation. It suggested the U.S.-led war in Iraq helped convince Gadhafi that he should act.
Democrats, however, dismiss any such claim, saying instead it was the softer hand of diplomacy that helped score the turnaround in Libya.
Who's right?
Let's ask Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi
Hans Blix, former chief U.N. weapons inspector, said he imagined "Gadhafi could have been scared by what he saw happen in Iraq."
Asked about his decision, Gadhafi acknowledged that the Iraq war may have influenced him, but he insisted he wanted to focus on the "positive."
The Donks insisted that Gadhafi's words meant nothing and cited years of attempts to get the thug to comply with international requests as being responsible for his decision despite the following:
1)Saddam was captured on December 14, 2003
2) Gadhafi agrees to cooperate December 19, 2003
3) Libya approached British and U.S. officials in mid-March, about the same time the war in Iraq began.
4) As mentioned previously, Gadhafi's own admission.
So are they stupid or lying? This is what it always comes down to with Democrats. Are they ignorant of the information I just presented you? If not, why...oh why would they lie and say our liberation of Iraq from the rule of Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with Libya's cooperation with international requests to disarm and stop supporting terror? They lie because it is politically advantageous to do so. After all, they can't admit that President Bush did something good. That won't give them the power they lust after.
UPDATE
Just in case they try to deny how they addressed Libya's new found desire to cooperate:
John Kerry on Libya's new cooperation - "''An administration that scorns multilateralism and boasts about a rigid doctrine of military pre-emption has almost in spite of itself demonstrated the enormous potential for improving our national security through
diplomacy."
Former Democrat Presidential Candidate Wesley Clark - "It's a program of squeezing Libya that's gone on for more than a decade. The Clinton administration was very much involved with this."
