You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once. - Robert A. Heinlein -

I need some clarification here. Because it looks like a lot of people who work overtime won't get paid.
Sen. Arlen Specter (search) of Pennsylvania, the chief Republican opponent of the new rules, agreed to drop a provision killing the regulations from a massive spending bill, lawmakers, congressional aides and lobbyists said.
Critics of the new rules said they could lead to 8 million Americans losing eligibility for overtime pay, largely white-collar workers earning more than $65,000 a year. Administration officials say more than 644,000 such employees would lose the time-and-a-half pay now required when they work more than 40 hours in a week.
Now, Specter is a RINO, who can be counted on voting for whatever the Republicans don't like. But anytime the politicians start to fuck with the free market, I get worried. Hell, I want to go up to D.C. and stand on the Senate floor with a newspaper. Every time one of those parasites start to mess with things like this, I'll bap them on the nose. "Bad scumbag! No bottle for you!"
The Bush administration and business leaders say the new rules are a badly needed modernization of overtime rules that in many cases are vague and decades old.
"The business community lobbied hard on this issue, but in the end it was the simple argument, that this rulemaking should go forward because the regulations haven't been updated in 40 years, which won the day," said Randy Johnson, U.S. Chamber of Commerce (search) vice president for labor policy
Hey, here's an idea, you bloviating twit! STOP WITH THE BULLSHIT REGULATION ALREADY! IT'S CALLED A "FREE MARKET ECONOMY" FOR A REASON, YOU IDIOTS!
Someone needs to print out a copy of "The Law of Unintended Consequenses" and hand it out to all of those jerkwads on the Hill. When you FUCK WITH THE FREE MARKET, it comes back to BITE YOU IN THE ASS!
