My dear, senile uncle Samuel has decided that I would be of more value to him in Kentucky rather than in Wisconsin.  So come August, I'll be headed South.

If you want to know why I've been so busy lately, it's because I have a house to sell, and it needs a wee bit of work.

Obama is so far out of his depth it's not even funny.  Hell, he'd be out of his depth in a mud puddle so putting him into any kind of situation requiring decorum, or even requiring him to shut his yap for once in his adult life only highlights how classless, clueless and incompetent the moron truly is.

I swear, after Obama is gone, Britain will probably never invite any president back to Jolly Old England.

McCotter in the running?

Thaddeus McCotter, Representative from Michigan, may be running for president.  Maybe.  We'll find out in a few weeks.

Watch this guy talk live.  He's not the most photogenic person, but the brain on this guy......  whew.  He's another guy I could vote for if it he got the nomination.

Lilacs

The lilacs are in bloom here in Western Wisconsin.  When I first got here, I had no idea just how wild the lilacs can grow here.  Spokane, WA is the Lilac City, and I've marched in the Lilac Parade there, and I've ran Bloomsday, the annual 10k race that commemorates the first blooms on the lilacs.

But here?  People build entire fences out of their lilac bushes, that's how well they grow.  Driving down Highway 16 between Sparta and Tomah, you see nothing but flowers right now, lilacs for miles.  And you can smell them anywhere you go, all over my town and all the towns around us.

It's rather nice.  I always did like lilacs.

Yee-Haw!

You don't know how much joy it gives me to see kids actually playing real instruments.  And these are GOOD.  I know plenty of adults who don't play near that well.

Well now, didn't THIS just make things interesting!

If Tim Pawlenty is willing to go into Iowa and say that we need to end ethanol subsidies, that's a shot across the bow of every other nominee who fancies themselves a conservative.  Put up or shut up, folks.  Either stand on your principals or get the hell out.

I think the election just got a whole lot more interesting.  And add Pawlenty into the group of people that I'm watching with interest. 

Conflicted

Mitch Daniels has decided not to run for president.

He sites family as his reason for not doing so.  On one hand, I applaud his willingness to put his family before his political career.  It's refreshing, and it's not something you see done very often at the national level.  On the other hand, isn't that just the kind of guy you'd want running?  One who doesn't lust for the power of the job like a crack addict lusts for another hit, kinda like the current resident of the Oval Office?

Ah well.  We'll see who else comes out when we shake the tree a few more times.

Yesterday

Started out great.  I was trying to relax a little bit.  Then I screwed up the paint job on my motorcycle tank, and I have to sand off layers of paint and re-do it either tonight or sometime when I can find an hour to actually sit and wet-sand it again.

Things didn't go too well after that.
