So, what exactly can you do when one of your friends is determined to flush his life down the toilet?
Dammit.
You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once. - Robert A. Heinlein -

Fuck Yeah!
Fucking fuck yeah! Damn, but I'm proud to be from Idaho!
Of course, by inviting Oregon businesses, you invite some of the Oregon loony nutcases who elected their Socialist government in the first place.
Any conservative Oregonians want to move on over to counterbalance that? DANE - you feel like moving East? Rivrdog - My dad can hook you up with a great marina that he docks the Hololani at.
Let's talk!
And thanks to Phil for the heads up!
Businesses small and large are the backbone of Idaho’s economy. They employ our citizens, who in turn can provide for their families. Businesses and individuals also pay reasonable taxes that enable State and local governments to provide such essential services as public schools and public safety. And make no mistake: Any business that doesn’t pass along its operating costs to consumers – including their tax bills – doesn’t stay in business for long.
Of course, Oregon businesses can choose to accept their higher tax burden, and many will. After all, I understand that the quality of life over there is pretty good. But they have nothing on Idaho in that regard.
For those Oregon businesses facing a decision about whether to lay off employees or close their doors entirely, I have a proposal: Move to Idaho. The Tax Foundation rates our corporate tax burden at 17th in the nation, compared to Oregon’s ranking of 31st. Our individual tax burden is lower, too. Those kinds of numbers can make a real difference to a bottom line.

I got nothing today
Sorry. I'm in the middle of a class I have to finish up, and between that and work my time gets sucked up real quick. Last night the Ragin' Mrs. and I actually sat down and watched a movie for the first time in a long time.
I kinda feel like this guy.
Except without all that fun.

Gonna keep hammering away at it
Because it ain't going away on it's own. And this is a must read. This guy gets it.
Folks, the hue and cry to repeal DADT and push to allow open homosexuality in the military has nothing to do with military readiness. In fact, it would be detrimental to military readiness just because of all the extra bullshit the military would have to do in order to accommodate a tiny minority of the population. No, this is about pushing forward a political agenda and using the military as the battleground.
Fuck that noise.
DO NOT listen to all the shrieking about "IT'S NOT FAIR!" The military isn't about being fair, it's about winning wars. And this push to admit open homosexuality will weaken that mentality. It wouldn't be the end, it would be just the beginning. Read it all. Then print it out and mail it to your Congresscritter.
This is what the military is going to do at every decision point. Get used to it. If DADT is repealed, your military will be endorsing things you would vote against. It will be endorsing things you would keep your kids away from when they’re done in public. And it will become the battleground for gay advocacy groups wanting to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act, which provides that the federal government recognizes only traditional marriage, and that traditional-marriage states need not recognize gay marriages concluded elsewhere.
The challenge to DOMA is already being mounted as part of the military study on repeal of DADT. It had to be. This had to happen, and it was easy to foresee long ago, which is why I predicted it last year. Gay partners will of course demand the same family services and acknowledgment of relationships that traditional families get in the military. And of course, the Defense Department will be governed in this matter by DOMA. Changing what DOD does will mean gutting DOMA or getting it overturned. However the issue is handled, it will become a precedent for every other federal agency and all the states, and is likely to generate a flood of new lawsuits.
And one final note is that that’s not because of what the military is. It’s because of what America is. If the US military could acknowledge homosexuality and yet also allow others in the ranks to believe it’s wrong and refrain from endorsing it, or even just allow them despise it, shy away from it, or crack jokes about it, as young men in particular often do, there would be no problem. That’s how some other militaries come to terms with open homosexuality: they let straights who don’t want to endorse it go their own way. This means – yes – gays sometimes get their feelings hurt. It may even mean they are discriminated against unofficially, by seniors who base judgments about them (e.g., regarding promotion) in part on their sexual orientation and lifestyle. The seniors may even be right – as they are likely to be, much of the time – and they aren’t then second-guessed as an institutional operating principle, or assumed to be wrong or to have unlawfully discriminatory “thoughts” in their heads. (None of this means gays have no recourse against being assaulted, of course; they have that because they are human beings, not because they’re gay.)
But we don’t do it that way in the USA. The reason repealing DADT must mean the military will put its institutional imprimatur on homosexuality, and require everyone in uniform to demonstrate fealty to the military’s affirmative endorsement of it, is that in the USA, we coerce institutional closed-mindedness by not only punishing thought and speech with litigation, but actively seeking thought and speech to punish.
Just Wow
The Botoxed Bitch of San FranSicko just told America that they need to pass the Healthcare Bill to find out what's in it.
Yeah.
Nancy Pelosi is proof that we need to wall off San Francisco from the USA in order to prevent the infection from spreading. Kinda like in 28 Days, but instead of the Rage Virus it's the Stupid Virus.
The best quote about this whole bullshit bill came from Mark Steyn somewhere - The government healthcare bill is not about healthcare, it's about GOVERNMENT. They don't give a shit if they drive America off a cliff just as long as they get their power that they so desperately crave. And if this bill gets passed, and every lastDemocrat American Communist Party Member gets voted out off office it's still a win for the anti-American Left, because the GOP doesn't have the balls to repeal the bill! So they'll STILL have their control and their government takeover.
I need more ammo.
Yeah.

Hmmmmmm.....
One person wonders if Obama is smoking more than cigarettes.
One person thinks that Obama is going to legalize drugs.
Have any of my readers spent a goodly amount of time around a true dope-head? It's like being around these guys:
I'd rather castrate myself with a belt sander. I'd rather circumcise myself with a chainsaw. And that's just pot. Once you get around the addicts who use meth, or coke, or crack, or heroin? Good-friggin-night. They would slit their mother's throat for another hit. You think you matter in their world? Only the next high matters, and they'll do whatever they can in order to get that high.
It's like Democrats with money and power. You don't matter to them. They'll woo you with soft words and pleasant lies, but that's only so they can rob you blind and kick you to the curb once they get what they want.
Blah.

Was 'Hurt Locker' anti-Military or not?
Sure the director got to burn her ex-husband so she probably carried off the Oscar based on the angry-woman vote. And sure she said the right things about the military she may have defamed in her Oscar acceptance speech.
But was the film truly anti-Military or just implicitly anti-Military because of it's protagonists' angst? Perhaps it was pro-Military in the sense that he was the exception that proves the rule of concientious, and sane, service by Americans in uniform? Certainly Avatar was self-delusion agit-prop and perhaps the defeat of that film was in itself some small sign of advocacy for our service men and women.
My impression was tainted by my memories of the movie "War Lover" starring Steve McQueen. But as WWII was so clearly a 'good war' an exception like Steve McQueen's character is less risky in it's portayal of excess.
So I invite comment to educate me.

Publik skoolz
Yep.
And here's what really sets my teeth on edge - that because I opposed Comrade Obama, the Liberal Lord and Messiah, those people called me an idiot.
Yeah. You go with that.

Back to the grindstone
Went TDY, saw some family, had dinner with a fine gentleman, and now I'm back. You may have wondered why I threw up all the tunes. Part of it was that I was busy as all hell. Part of it was that I wanted a slight change of pace while I was running around like crazy. And part of it.....
Well, let's be blunt, shall we? Part of it was that if I had focused on politics last week, I would have been arrested for ripping off people's arms and then beating those people to death with their own limbs as they bled out.
The Jim Bunning affair - remember a while back when I said that the Republican Stupid Party is just like the Democrat American Communist Party? Remember that? Well, here was the perfect chance for the GOP to stand on their principals. Here was the perfect opportunity for the GOP to actually do what they claim to want to do, and they did..... nothing. Actually, they did WORSE than nothing, they joined ranks with the fucking communists and shit another ten billion dollars down a rabbit hole that they KNOW they can't pay for after they just passed a bill that said they have to be able to pay for the bills they pass. WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK, PEOPLE?!?!?!?!?!?! This could have been an opportunity to slow down the growth of the government by a teeny-tiny bit, and given that opportunity, the Republicans did just what lost them the 2006 and 2008 elections - they acted just like the GOD DAMNED FUCKING BIG GOVERNMENT COMMUNISTS OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY!
They had a chance to stand on principal. And they didn't just blow it, they blew it straight to hell. This country is out of money. Period. And the response from both parties is to spend more. Great. I'm spending more as well, only I'm stockpiling ammunition because once this economic house of cards starts tumbling I want to be prepared. I'm pretty certain my elected representatives are sick of hearing from me by now, but that's too bad, I'm still writing.
If you haven't seen this article on how the FedGov is a damaged brand, go read it. Damaged? Try wrecked. This country is being led by a complete and total phony. A phony that a majority of the people in this country voted for, in part because the press in this country was wholly bought and paid for whores for the man. And they still carry his water like the good little propaganda organ it is. Oh, you don't think so? Then ask yourself how a registered Democrat can be a "Right Wing Extremist". Yeah. Howdya like that Kool-Aide? By the way, when you see an Obama voter, can you ask them how that whole "Obama will heal our world reputation!" thing is going for them? Because from what I can tell, well..... yeah, not so much. And every time I meet one of those folks who voted for Obama because of "all that spending Bush did!" Yeah. And I make them own it. I'm not a popular guy right now in certain circles, especially when I'm asking "So, when you claimed to be against all that spending, were you actually dumb enough to think that Obama wouldn't spend more, or were you just a liar?"
Fuck being nice. Nice gets you shit on. I want people to wake the fuck up, and I'll be the not-so-nice guy banging that bell as loud as I can.
So I needed a week off, because otherwise I would have gone into overload. The light at the end of the tunnel is the oncoming train, and I'm trying to find a way off the tracks before I get flattened by the Big Government Express. My blood pressure needed a break.
Let's see what the next week brings.

Let's see here...
I've put up Lionel Hampton, Anita O'Day, and Benny Goodman... Let's tie this all together with the guy who used to drum for all of them: Gene Krupa.
And we'll finish it up with "Let Me Off Uptown". Gene Krupa, Anita O'Day, and Roy Eldridge. The dancing is a little corny, but the music is smokin'!
Enjoy! Your rants about politics will resume shortly.
