One last post.....

....Before I head off. I don't know if I'll have the time, much less the ability to get to this blog and post. I'll have to trust other people to put the smackdown on the Lefties who seem to have come out of the woodwork.

If I don't get a chance to post until everything is done, then I'll see you sometime around May or June. However, I should be able to get to a computer before then. When I do, I'll keep you posted. Right now I'm busy finishing packing and spending time with my wife. No big long-winded posts today. To be honest, my family comes first.

And it's nice to see the Happy Homeschooler on the blog! Welcome aboard! Don't let the Lefties get ya down.

The Deafening Silence about God

Apparently it's not just Liberalfornia that wishes to remove God from American History. They want God gone on the east coast as well.

This is my first post here, and it's my blog style to provide commentary as well as links. I aim for scathing and pithy, but I will settle for provocative or even mildly interesting.

Back to the topic at hand. Maryland public schools feel that it's undesirable and unnecessarily and possibly harmful to mention the religious aspect of such groups as the Puritans. "Mentioning that the Pilgrims were Puritan is about as close as most administrators are willing to step to integrate religion into their curriculums." And "School administrators statewide agree, saying religion never coincides with how they teach Thanksgiving to students." Yes, we don't want to confuse the revisionist history with the truth. Indoctrinate them early with the absence of a Christian God.

Removing God from American History is completely in line with the world view and agenda of public education. I've written about the NEA on my homeschooling blog.

What I'd like to know is if the Christian God is the only one banned? Has the Great Spirit also been obliterated when Maryland students study Native Americans? And while studying multicultural, are the spiritual and religious concepts of those cultures similarly cut? In the name of equality and all that?

As if I needed more reassurance that I've made the right choice for my children in terms of education. The Happy Homeschooler home will be doing math, reading and the Advent activities featured here for the month of December.

Adding: Having just performed spell check, there are going to have to be some changes around here if I participate. Blogger has "multiculturalism" in the spell check dictionary but not "homeschooling". ;)

Thanksgiving

Donald Sensing has a photo essay of the things he's thankful for. Can't say I disagree with any of 'em.

As for me, I have my own list, many of which I won't bother you with. But since I'm in a nice mood today, I have a little story for you.

Back in my first year in Seattle, I was having a bad day. Go figure. I had plans to meet up with some pals from the SCA at a bar in Fremont later, so I went for a long walk, took some pictures (one which is actually published!) and ended up sweaty, hot, thirsty, and in the company of some good people.

Being as I was still in a poor mood, I promptly started drinking. Black Butte Porter, some damn good beer. Also some damn STRONG beer. I had two pitchers of it before I ran out of cash. Since I wasn't driving that night, somebody bought me a third pitcher. I guess they wanted to see Dave walk sideways, or see if I could even walk at all. Needless to say, I was three sheets to the wind.

Sometime during all of this, a woman walks in and joins us at the table. She knew the guys, but since I was a relative newcomer to this group, she didn't know me. I, being drunk, pissed off and horny, promptly made an ass of myself by hitting on her like there was no tomorrow. This same girl eventually dropped me off at my apartment, but it never went further than that. I woke up the next day feeling like an ass, deservedly so, and tried to go about life while forgetting the incident.

About six months later at fighter practice (SCA heavy fighting. If'n ya wanna know, email and ask) I see this very same girl. Her hair was a bit longer, but I recognized her smile and her eyes. She was just starting to learn how to fight, swing a sword, ect. A bunch of the new people didn't have armor to fight in yet, and as I was making a new set for myself out of leather, I put out a group offer to teach anyone who wanted to learn how to make their own suit. They could use my tools, they just had to pay for their own leather. She was the only person who accepted my offer.

Now, I still felt bad about the way I'd treated her six months ago, so I made sure that I was nice to her. However, she had no idea that I was the same drunken asshole who had been hitting on her six months ago at a bar in Fremont. In fact, it took her two weeks to realise that fact. If she had recognized me at the start, she probably never would have taken me up on my armor making offer.

We got married last October.

So of all the things that I'm thankful for.... for the men and women who are working today to keep us safe; not just the military, but the police and firefighters who are away from their families in order to respond and deal with our emergencies, for the hospitals and ERs who ensure that we get the care we need, for everyone who is away from their families so that this country can rest and enjoy this day...

On top of all of that, I'm thankful to God for giving me a second chance to make a first impression.

Declaration of Independence Banned at California School

I think maybe there's no mistaking what these people are anymore.

Steven Williams, a fifth-grade teacher at Stevens Creek School in the San Francisco Bay area suburb of Cupertino, sued for discrimination on Monday, claiming he had been singled out for censorship by principal Patricia Vidmar because he is a Christian.

Alas, it's cached. Tough break.

Idaho and Montana to be Freed

Idaho just got a whole lot more attractive, RD.

For many conservatives, the words "9th Circuit" mean more than just a federal appeals court in California. The words embody everything they think is wrong with liberal activism, West Coast politics and the judges who tried to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Those same conservatives think their new clout following President Bush's re-election may help put some weight behind a movement to split up the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, leaving the 9th in California, creating a new 12th Circuit for neighboring Idaho, Arizona, Montana and Nevada; and a new 13th Circuit for Washington, Alaska and Oregon.
Outrageous!!!

FOXNews.com - Future of 9th Circuit Under Review

Don't miss this tidbit:

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said the ideological drive behind the proposals in both the House and Senate have made lawmakers uncomfortable. "It's obvious what is going on, the other side is very clear that this is what they are doing," Schiff told FOXNews.com.

He said he heads a caucus with Rep. Judy Biggert, R-Ill., to work, in part, on solutions to the worsening relationship between the courts and Congress. "This just makes it worse.".
Remember that name - Adam Schiff? Remember who his old lady is?

Darn!

Wrong Schiff.

I was thinking about Karenna...

...the previous irrelevant daughter of a wealthy loser Senator.

Oy!

Ah, well, but wrong Schiff. Karenna is married to Drew Schiff.

Her husband, Andrew “Drew” Schiff, is a physician-turned-biotech venture capitalist for a fund backed by financier George Soros. Their relative affluence allows them to live on the city’s Upper East Side, while his job gives her an entrĂ©e into the world of high finance.
Karenna Gore Schiff

I get so confused sometimes... all of these humanist millionaires named Schiff or Gore or Heinz...

And oh yeah, isn't it great that we need not see this nauseating sight anymore???

I don't know what made me think of her - probably the lingering mind picture of Dave retching so hard that he tore back muscle.

Looking back, I never really developed a hatred for John Kerry. But his old lady? Man am I glad I need not see or hear her anymore.

Does life fricking rule or what???

So with Dave leaving...

...we need another contributor, at least, and i wrote to some of you fuggerz but y'all never wrote back.

What gives?

Murel, I expected a prompt reply!

We're going to help drive Kofi Annan out of New York, you know.

Support the Troops?

No, they don't.

Once again, for those who weren't listening last time (and if you were, you can skip this part)....

When some fucknut Leftie mouths the words "I support the troops, but" you can ignore anything and everything they say. They DON'T support the troops. They never have, and they probably never will. They only SAY that they support the troops to avoid having their teeth kicked down their throat by right-thinking people.

Call them on their lies. They DO NOT support the troops.

Actions speak louder than words, you fucking communist shit suckers.

Send in the bombers, Rodger. I'm outta the blast zone.

I got my orders today

I fly out Sunday. However, the training may take less time than first planned. That means I'm home for Christmas. Looks like Heartless Libertarian was correct. I'm still going to be a bit pessimistic about it however. This IS the Army we're talking about.

The wife and I are mostly over the food poisoning we had Monday. My back is still wrenched out of shape from vomiting so damn hard, and it hurts to take a deep breath right now. I'll get over it in time, and with a little help from my pal Scotch.

I love scotch. Scotchy scotch scotch scotch!

Anywho, I'm still busy as hell, so I need to get off the computer before my wife brains me with some various kitchen utensil that I should be packing into a box.

Vote Pat Tillman Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year

There are some really great athletes nominated, but this particular athlete left a promising career in sports to fight for his country. He refused to grant interviews to avoid accusations that he chose to serve as a publicity stunt and was killed in battle.

Honor his sacrafice by voting for Pat Tillman for SI's Sportsman of the Year.

* You have to scroll the list of athletes to the bottom. He is second to last on their list.

Ten Lessons of Fallujah

Great stuff.

These small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be carried in two backpacks, assembled in minutes (they're made of a composite material that looks a lot like plastic foam) and launched by hand… Equipped with a small television camera and powered by an electric motor, these small planes (weight about 5 pounds, wingspan 45 inches) can give commanders on the scene a quick look at the other side of a building or a hill or screen of trees.
It's not all high tech.

Burn in Hell, Fidel

Val Prieto was sent a link to one rather disgusting bit of writing. It seems that some idiot is upset because the USA didn't send Fidel Castro a "Get Well" letter after he took a little fall.

That's probably because most of us were too busy praying for Castro to break his neck.

In any case, this particular idiot has set up a hotmail account in order for those who are so inclined to write a "get well" note for Castro. Go check it out. And think carefully about what you write. I'm thinking about "Next time, please just break your neck so we can get the party started!" Or maybe "Satan will roast your testicles in Hell, you murderous bastard!"

Something nice like that.

What do you get...

...when you combine:

- a devout Wiccan with
- Conservative ideals, and toss in
- a sprinkle of cancer survivorship, and top with
- firearms that are longer than Robert Reich is tall?

You get Saphyre Rose

Scroll until you get to the firearms. Wiccan is ready to Protect you!

Now Playing

Usually I look askance at bloggers who have a little CD image on their sites with "Now Playing" beneath it. I mean, who really gives a shit what Johnnie Bloggeroski is listening to as he opines about Iraq or Iran or the new Ford Mustang????

BUT BUT BUT sometimes you pop in a CD that is just epic.

I just did.

More Crap from the UN

While you might not have noticed it in the Has-Been Media, there have been more accusations of rape, pedophelia and prostitution by UN "peacekeepers" in the Congo.

While the Lame Stream Media overhypes every supposed US military misdeed with a hyperventilating fervor normally found displayed by young girls at an N'Sync concert, the outrage at the UN's misdeeds seems to be missing. Indeed, the reaction of the Has Been Media can be summed up with a shrug and hand-flip, since they can't damage the US military by reporting it, so why bother?

But despite the lackluster response of the worthless douchbags in the alphabet media stations, the vaunted UN peacekeeping force continues to shame themselves and expose just why I want nothing to do with that corrupt group. When the Bluehats are videotaped poking little kids, I see no reason to be a part of that.

No reason at all.

Found at Michelle Malkin's blog.

Ouch

Analog Kid has laid a smackdown on a Pacific Northwest Leftie who thinks that conservatives are the new facists.

It's longer than his normal post, but go read it. There's no one single part that I can excerpt.

Trove of Linkies

I ain't got no virus and I ain't off to a renewed career with the Army, and hence should have more time to blog, but I ain't got much time at all.

Ergo I ask the Dear Reader to partake of some linky love with me. And yeah, I've been tested.

Lee notes that sometimes the dead and dying actualy do throw shots. Or maybe it's just the Fistagon covering for itself... More here. And, ummm, Misha seems angry about it.

Meawhile, DANEgerus notes just why it is that this past election was so critical. But, ummmm, if you feel strongly that Bush is wrong for the job, there is something daring and gutsy that you can do about it.

Speaking of chickens, 10,000 are dead in Israel.

C. Kallini notes that something remarkable happened in Fallujah, but, errrr, it ain't getting much play 'round these parts. This is a first hand account.

Drumwaster wants your opinion.

John Hawkins wants to know who were the most annoying liberals in 2004. He also would like you to note Ann Coulter's best. I guess I want to know why Right Wing News is all the way down in Scrollsville on our blogroll.

I am Jack's heaving stomach

Can you say food poisoning? I can. Don't expect much out of me today.

I'm going to be curled up on the couch whimpering.

Light blogging today

Blogging will be light today. Here's a great site.
