Range Day yesterday

Did OK.  Not up to my usual standard.  This is actually the first time I've ever used an optic on my M4, so it was a little different.  Had I been more familiar I think I could have done better.

Anthony Bourdain has committed suicide.  This sucks.  The guy was a dick.  An entertaining dick, but a dick.  But nobody should go out like that.  As a Catholic, suicide is the one unforgivable sin.  There's no chance to see the Pearly Gates after that, it's straight down through Purgatory and into hell for you when you off yourself.  So don't do it.  Is life on earth so bad that you want to compound it with an eternity in hell?  Not to mention the damage that it does to everyone around you, who has to pick up the pieces of their lives without you.  The damage that a person's suicide does to the loved ones of the deceased is unreal.

Charles Krauthammer has cancer, and he's only got a couple of weeks to live.  I have several I know, in my family, in my work, and in my personal life that have cancer right now, and I'm getting a little tired of it.  I'm betting there's a few of you out there in the same situation.

And now I get to go back to work today.  So posting will be a little light.

When I heard about Charles Krauthamer I wept. He is such a brilliant man and human being. His wit and intelligence will be sorely missed. Cancer sucks and we need to kick it's ass outta here.

Family tradition: qualify Expert in Basic, get the ribbon, bever have to do that again. I did it in OTS in '67, #1 daughter did it in USMC Basic in mid-80s at LeJeune.

I've qualified expert for the past couple of years. My problem this time is that I didn't remove the glare screen from the optic, and it obscured the 250 targets. Couldn't see 'em. Could barely see the 200 meter.

Oddly enough, the 300 meter targets I could see. So I took it off after the range, probably won't put it back on.
