At least I don't have a car payment

Getting new shocks and struts put on the Ragin' Car.  Given the abuse that poor thing has dealt with over it's driving life, let's just say that I'm putting a pretty penny into the undercarriage.

But, that's better to me than having a car payment.  I figure that what I'm spending on repairs would be two or three months of car payments, which leaves the other nine or ten months worth of car payments in my bank account, as it were.

Advantage, my bank account.

The youngest car I own is my 2000 Lexus LS, then the 99 Mazda B2500 pickup, then the 1972 AM General M35a2. All are paid for, all are maintained to ready condition, all available all the time. In a previous life, I was an Air Nasty Guard 7-level fleet maestro...

I figure that as long as I take care of it, I'll get another 60,000 miles out of my car. That's 60,000 miles without a car payment. I don't need the newest gizmo in my vehicle. Hell, having a manual transmission is one of the best theft deterrents I could have! Why get rid of it?
