Happy New Year, y'all

I'm spending it with NyQuil and a hot shower.  YMMV.

The Consensus that wasn't

But we already knew this, didn't we?

Don’t look now, but maybe a scientific consensus exists concerning global warming after all. Only 36 percent of geoscientists and engineers believe that humans are creating a global warming crisis, according to a survey reported in the peer-reviewed Organization Studies. By contrast, a strong majority of the 1,077 respondents believe that nature is the primary cause of recent global warming and/or that future global warming will not be a very serious problem.

Any time I hear a leftist spouting off about "SCIENCE!" I automatically assume that they're either lying, clueless, or both.

So, you know how you go visit family

And they're all sick, but they didn't tell you that before you showed up?

Yeah.  Blargle.  So much for going for a run tomorrow.  Kinda hard to do that when you can't friggin' breath through your nose, and you spend most of your very early morning hacking and coughing up chunks.

I think this was the first vacation in a long time where I couldn't wait to leave.

Da Tech Guy on Ted Cruz

....and Cruz's supposed immigration problem.

All the various attacks being launched at Cruz by members of the GOP on his immigration record are all attempts to deflect attention away from Rubio's Gang of 8 Amnesty bullshit.

The GOP establishment hates Ted Cruz with a passion, and they're throwing shit against a wall hoping that some of it will stick.

The Coventry Carol

To remind us that even Jesus as a baby faced death.

Christmas isn't all lights and presents and happiness.  Jesus, Mary and Joseph had to flee the country to keep away from Herod's men.

There's a lesson to be learned here....

My scheduled Christmas post

Many moon ago, when Ragin' Dave was just a wee thing, he attended Midnight Mass at a local church.  It was a Novus Ordo parish, as I didn't even know the Traditional Latin Mass was still going, but it was an old fashioned church nonetheless.  We had a full blown pipe organ; a 1920 Black organ. And we had an organist who knew how to play it.  He was, and still is, one of the true masters of the pipe organ.

Have you ever heard the phrase "Pulling out all the stops"?  That is a reference to a pipe organ.  The organist as "stops" arranged on his organ.  Pull one out, and the sound gets louder.  Push one in, and the sound gets quiet.  Pull them all out, and you have a pipe organ at full volume.

This being Midnight Mass at a semi-traditional church, many of the parishioners were someone older.  And they weren't used to being up past midnight.  Which means that by the time mass ended, many of them were half-asleep.

The last song of the night was "Joy To The World".  And the organist pulled out all the stops.  On a vintage, 1920 pipe organ, in full working order.

You could see a WAVE of sound roll over the congregation.

Woke them up properly for the drive home, it did.

Feel free to sing along.  I sure did.

Ragin' Dave's Quote of the Day, The Power of Language edition

From John C Wright:

The Devil invented lies to turn the power of speech into a weapon of falsehood. And God invented the parable, the poem, the epic, the song, and the sonnet in order to turn the power of lies into fables, myths, types and shadows, to turn fiction into a weapon of truth.
I know more people who were converted by Aslan than by Aquinas. What does that tell you about the power of fiction?

I could tell my co-workers about how Satan operates, how he tries to manipulate people into damning themselves.  But they would yawn and tune me out faster than you could blink.

Put a copy of "The Screwtape Letters" into their hands, however....

Lindsey Graham is out of the race

He finally figured out what we could have told him long before he ever got into the race.

Apparently his "supporters" are switching to Jeb Bush.  So you can expect to see a 0.3% bump is Bush's poll numbers.  That should get Jeb close to 4% in the national polls, if you round up.

Too friggin' cool

Launch a rocket, dispense a few satellites, land rocket again safely.

Every time something like this happens, we get another step closer to the Moon.  Or Mars.

Shared this with the wife. Laughed my ass off.

And Ted Cruz is paying to have this ad play during SNL this weekend.

Friggin' awesome.

I hate Christmas Shopping

I truly do.  I suppose I should just buy things throughout the year and put them in hiding so that I never have to actually go shopping for Christmas, but that would imply being able to keep a secret from my wife for several months, and that just ain't gonna happen.  I'm not a good liar at the best of times, and I can't keep anything from the Mrs.

But that's a good thing.  I'm proud of the fact that I'm a horrible liar.  That means I don't lie enough to get any practice at it.

Anyways, I hate Christmas shopping, I truly do.

Guess what I'm doing today?

Obama's Praetorian Guard strike again

The NYT's Lord, King and God must be protected at all times.

If you read The New York Times‘ story on PresidentBarack Obama‘s private meeting with news columnists Friday morning, you may have caught one quote that made the President look particularly bad:
In his meeting with the columnists, Mr. Obama indicated that he did not see enough cable television to fully appreciate the anxiety after the attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, and made clear that he plans to step up his public arguments.
The President of the United States failed to understand that Americans were anxious after two major terrorist attacks in Western cities because he doesn’t watch TV? It’s an admission that opponents are sure to use to make the president seem out-of-touch at best, and unconcerned about a serious threat at worst.
Jammie Wearing Fool has the proof that the NYT is constantly changing it's headlines in order to protect their Communist Christ from any criticism at all.

Took a tumble

whilst on the morning run.  I think I'm mostly OK, but I'm fairly certain my shoulders are going to be sore tonight.  We'll see how I feel tomorrow morning.

So once again

Democrats get everything they want, while the Republican leadership cowers in a corner and throws poo at the Tea Party folks.

Fuck the GOP.  It needs to die.  It needs to die now.

More Here.  Paul Ryan is just a thinner, more sober John Boehner, and it's business as usual for the GOP establishment - grow the government betray the base, make excuses, repeat.  They have repeatedly shown that they cannot be trusted, they cannot learn, the refuse to actually do what their voters want them to do....  it's time for them to go the way of the Whig Party.

The flashing alarm light

But the nation has been asleep at the switch for the past seven years.

Well, at least half the nation, anyway.

I believe that most of that 53 percent of Americans who want to send our young people back to the sandbox labor under the mistaken belief that our military is a well-oiled machine that will make mincemeat out of ISIS. I would warn these people that our military is actually pretty ragged—under-funded, undertrained, and sorely lacking in the morale department. Most importantly, it’s been wussified—forced by politicians and general officers to become the “kindler gentler military” Stephanie Gutmann warned of fifteen years ago in her seminal book by the same name. If you haven’t read it, you need to.
Slashed military budgets have shrunken our armed forces. The US Army is now the smallest it’s been since before World War II and the US Navy the smallest since before World War I. We’re still asking this skeleton crew to keep the sea lanes open and to hold down the fort in Korea, something we didn’t ask of them in our pre-superpower era.
Morale continues its descent into the abyss. In 2014, the Military Times
commissioned a survey of 2,300 military members to gage their satisfaction with military life—with bleak results. Only 56 percent of troops agreed with the statement “Overall my quality of life is good,” compared to 91 percent who said the same thing in 2009. Seventy percent of troops agreed with the statement that “quality of life will decline in coming years.” Only 27 percent said that officers in senior leadership positions had the rank-and-file’s best interest at heart—a clear indicator that careerism is having a corrosive effect on the military. As journalist Hope Hodge Seck wrote in the Military Times: “Today’s service members say they feel underpaid, under-equipped and under-appreciated, the survey data show.”

There's more at the link.  Read the whole thing.  The author says this is not the Army they joined in 1999.  It sure as hell isn't the Army I first joined in 1995.  There will come a point where the military, having been transformed into a social justice project, will not be able to win the wars America needs it to win.

But as fewer and fewer people have any experience with the military, they don't care.  Just as long as gays and women can openly serve in the Infantry, right?  That's the REAL important measure.

Listened to the debate last night.

The CNN moderators wanted the candidates to fight.  Trump and Bush obliged them.  Trump vs Cruz not so much.  Very smart.

Bush came off looking pissy, bitchy and entitled.  I wouldn't be shocked if his numbers went down.

Rubio did OK.  Carson did better than his other debates.  Trump and Cruz mostly helped themselves. Everybody else was just eating up time.

All in all, I expect to see the top three remain the top three.  I expect to see Jeb sink even further.

Debate tonight

What are the odds that Trump tries to unload on Cruz?  And gets his ass handed to him?

What are the odds that Cruz just smiles and goes after Hillary?

Can anyone explain to me why half the field is even in the race?  Lindsey Graham is still running?  He's the more feminized John McCain, he's got no chance.  And I'm pretty sure that even he knows it.  So other than being a stalking horse for Bush, what the hell is he there for?

Trump, Cruz and Carson take up over 50% of the support right now.  The GOP is shitting kittens.  And I'm laughing my ass off.

I had seen this before

But forgot where I found it, until I found it somewhere else.

The three truths about Islam that you probably didn't know.

"Religion of Peace" my white hairy ass.

OK, was Rudyard Kipling a prophet?

Or is there any subject he did not write a poem about that cuts straight to the heart of the matter?

The Stranger within my gates,
He may be evil or good,
But I cannot tell what powers control--
  What reasons sway his mood;
Nor when the Gods of his far-off land
   Shall repossess his blood.

-or scream "ALLAHU ACKBAR!" and blow themselves up in the children's play area of your local mall.

Well, Kipling spent a ton of time in India, which means he was spending time tromping around the area which would become Pakistan.  Yes, Pakistan was once part of the country of India.  Guess why it broke off?

I first learned this song back in the early 90's.

Choir.  Long story.  Bottom line they tried to make us just learn the melody, and we were all scratching our heads because it didn't make sense.  Madrigal.  They is fun, they is.

Because the melody doesn't make sense until you add the harmony.

I honestly thing this is one of the most beautiful carols ever written.  It's also one of the few madrigal style songs still commonly sung in the modern age.

2-9 Army plays 9-2 Navy

Yeah.  I don't think it's gonna be a good game for me today.

You knew this was happening.

You might not have had proof in your hands, but somewhere deep in your gut, you knew this was happening.

Short short version:  Programs designed to find islamic terrorists get shut down by the Obama administration because Obama cares more about his ideology than he does about keeping America safe.

Oh, and DHS says there are "many holes" in this guy's story.  Lemme ask you a question:  Do you believe a guy who's waving a flag and saying "HEY!  I COULD HAVE STOPPED THIS!", or do you believe the Administration who's first act to the San Bernardino shootings was to convene a meeting to find a way to massage PR, and who told the FBI not to call it terrorism?

Larry Kudlow says to seal the borders

He might not be completely awake, but he's partially swallowed the red pill.

I know this is not my usual position. But this is a war. Therefore I have come to believe there should be no immigration or visa waivers until the U.S. adopts a completely new system to stop radical Islamic terrorists from entering the country. A wartime lockdown. And a big change in my thinking.
ISIS and related Islamic terrorists are already here. More are coming. We must stop them.
Until FBI director James Comey gives us the green light, I say seal the borders.

Screw FBI directer James Comey - don't unseal the borders until the next FBI director, hopefully appointed by someone sane instead of a Marxist muslim sympathizer.

Oh, and while we're at it - stop sending billions of dollars to muslim countries who preach hatred of the Great Satan.  They already hate us.  Let them hate us for free.

Seal the f&*king border with Mexico.  If that causes Mexico's economy to collapse, so be it.  Propping it up with our dollars only last for so long anyways.  If their economy is reliant on their citizens breaking our laws, then their economy doesn't deserve to exist.

Start working on sealing our border with Canada.  I love Canadians, I really do, but they just elected a loony fucking jackass to be in charge, and they're going to let lots of muslims just come on in.  Hopefully the splody-dopes try to cross into the USA in the middle of winter.  On the border with North Dakota.  And we can lug their corpse-sicles to the ocean and drop them on in once we find them in the spring.  But until then, work on controlling that border as well.

Remember, folks:  Nobody has the right to come here.  And we have absolutely zero obligations to allow them in.  Hammer that point home when your liberal acquaintances sputter about Trump or the Constitution.

Early morning typos

Found a typo in yesterday's post.  Found others in previous posts.  I blame blogging while waking up.  But if I don't blog in the mornings, I probably won't blog at all.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is:  Sorry 'bout the mis-spellings, but suck it up and deal with them.

Gun Control?

I think there are people out there who can be convinced that gun control is wrong.  For them, take the time to explain just why gun control is such a bad idea.

But let's face it:  There are plenty of people in American who understand just how bad an idea gun control is, and they want it anyway because they think they'll be in charge.  They'll be the ones writing the schedules for the rail cars.

And the only real thing to say to them is just what that little graphic says.  You come for our guns, we come for you.

Stole the pic from here, where Vox Day points out yet another example of people who want to ban your guns.

Why Trump is important

Vox Day nails it:

That leaves immigration. And here, Trump is the only candidate who is even beginning to address the scope of the existential problem. All the Democrats, and more than half of the Republicans, actually want to make it worse. Even if you don't support him, or trust him, the mere fact that he is in the race has changed the debate on the subject more than the combined efforts of every anti-immigrationist, every open-borders skeptic, and every anti-free trade economist. He has been a literal Godsend in this regard, no matter what happens in the end.

In short, Donald Trump has radically changed the culture, and culture always trumps politics. And that is why petty sniping about the usual politics is not only pointless, it demonstrates that you are too stuck in an intellectual rut to even understand what the rest of us are discussing.

You don't have to support Trump to see that he has pushed the topic of conversation away from what the Democrats want, and towards what the conservative voters want.

Gutless, pathetic cretins

The White House is six different shades of butt-hurt about Trumps proposed Muslim ban.  The worst President in the history of America is saying that Trump deserves to be in the dust-bin of history for daring to suggest that we not allow Muslims into America.

Apparently, he's forgotten that one of his idols actually took American citizens and put them in internment camps.  And yet FDR is spoken of in glowing terms by the Left, which implies that they're really not opposed to draconian solutions, they just want them directed at Republicans this time around.

Love or hate Trumps proposal, here are two simple facts.

Muslims do not have any right to immigrate to America.

Americans do not have any responsibility or obligation to permit any foreigner to immigrate to America.

This is our country.  We can allow who we let in and who we don't.  We should have a say in it.  And until we don't have to worry about some muslim screaming and blowing up day-care centers or shooting up a Christmas party (an attack that was planned a year out, which means right after Mr. Jihad brought Mrs. Jihad in from the Middle East) if we want to tell the Middle East and muslims to go fuck off, then WE HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO DO SO.

The post I linked to yesterday had it exactly right:  With the exception of Ted Cruz, every other Republican nominee is now arguing the very same position as Barack Hussein Obama, the worst president in American history.  They are so hoping that maybe THIS time if they attack Trump that it'll hurt him.  Maybe THIS time Trump's statements will bring him down.

Well Jumping Jehosephat on a pogo stick, how many times is this that they've jumped on the attack-Trump bandwagon and had it bite them in the ass?  With the exception of Cruz, they have proven incapable of learning just what is driving Trump's popularity, which means they have no idea how to get around it, and are constantly fighting a rear-guard action after the fact!  And if they have no idea for the reason behind Trump's popularity, that means that don't have a single clue about what their base wants, which is just more proof of how detached from the actual population the Republican party has become.

Trump is leading because he is finding out what the Republican base wants, and is saying it on the national stage.  Immigration?  The GOP had it's ears plugged and was screaming "LALALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" as the voting base wanted some control put into place.  Trump came out and said "Let's stop this stupidity."  Advantage Trump.

And now on this:  The GOP establishment is so scared of being branded "racist" or "anti-whatever-ist" that they've pissed their pants pre-emptively and already curled into a surrender ball.  Trump just came out and stomped on their dicks.  "Yeah, let's stop bringing people in until we can be sure they don't want to blow us up!"  Advantage Trump.

At this point, I think the only hope the GOP has is the one person they hate more than Trump:  Ted Cruz.  I don't think Trump would make a good President.  Oh, he'd be better than Hillary, and if he gets the nomination I'd vote for him.  But I don't really trust him, I just trust him more than Hillary or that senile fuckwit from Vermont.

But Cruz?  I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.  And from the looks of things, his lead is growing, which is a good thing.

Every other GOP candidate has proven they're so far out of touch with American and the actual GOP voters that I don't know if I'd trust them to pour piss out of a boot with instructions printed on the heel.

Dog whistles and what not

So Donald Trump wants to bar muslims from coming into the USA.  He said so.  Put out a plan talking about it.

And the usual suspects went apeshit.  Ted Cruz didn't.  All he said was "That's not my plan".  Didn't attack Trump.  But that's because Ted Cruz is smart.  The rest of the field, who were so eager to attack Trump, just found themselves in a shitpile of their own making.

So, to put it another way, the day after the President failed to reassure a scared public following the second worst terrorist attack since 9/11 on domestic soil, Donald Trump not only got himself to the right of all the other candidates, but also got every single one of them save for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX to align themselves with Barack Obama.

I think that Trump has been watching the GOP establishment for some time, and he knows exactly how to push their buttons, what to do to get them to react.  And he's playing them for the fools that they are.

In other news, Ted Cruz, who has NOT attacked Trump, and who has NOT jumped when Trump whistled, is now leading Trump in Iowa and is second in other states, with his numbers steadily growing all over the nation.

Who needs oil anyways?

Nah, not those people!

December 7th

So, dear old dad was born prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor.  He was just a wee toddler when the Japanese attacked.  My Grandfather spend the next four years on a ship in the Pacific.  I have a rosary, on which hangs the crucifix my Grandfather had on his rosary that he carried with him all that time.  It's the only thing I have of him, except for the memories.

Pretty soon that's all we're going to have of the people who served in WWII.  Memories.  So if you know any WWII vets, shake their hand and thank them.

Ragin' Dave's Quote of the Day, Evil Exists Edition

It's the comment on a piece over at Instapundit, but it needs to be hammered into people's heads:

The West doesn’t want to admit the appeal of evil, because that would require admitting that evil exists. And if evil exists, then that implies a duty to be good, which they would find onerous and tediously old-fashioned.

The Left (and some of the Right) desperately want "evil" to be just a make-believe concept dreamed up by the toothless, sister-humping Jesus-freak fly-over-country Rednecks.  Because then they don't have to do anything, and they can satisfy their moral preening desire by taking your money and giving it to someone else rather than doing anything of value.

Political appointee does what political appointees do

At least, it's what they do when they're appointed by Obama, and are nothing but dumb-assed political hacks who care more about their ideology than reality.

In a historic shift in policy, the Pentagon will open all combat jobs to women, Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced Thursday.
“Our force of the future must continue to benefit from the best America has to offer,” Carter told reporters during a Pentagon press conference. “This includes women.”
Women will now be able to help fill some of the 220,000 roles that are currently only open to their male counterparts — positions that include some special operations units and infantry — among other roles.
The policy change will take effect in 30 days, Carter said.

This will lead to lives being lost on the combat field.  Combat is a physical activity.  Ignoring that fact in the name of political correctness will bite us in the ass.  On average, women cannot perform the physical tasks that men can.  It's not even close.

Oh, and by the by, this is a direct affect of allowing gays to serve openly.  Once the big push for political correctness was made, it was only a matter of time before this happened.  Allowing gays to serve openly in the military does not and will not improve combat effectiveness, but once people all nodded and applauded the social justice push of gays in the military, women in combat was the next logical step.

I'm glad I'm on the downhill slope to retirement.

A little a cappella

For a Saturday.

I first heard this song in a friend's car in Seattle.  Damn near laughed myself out the window.  I was easily amused in my 20's I guess.

Still a fun song.

The Liberal's Conservative

The only reason David Brooks is still a thing is because he's the "conservative" that liberals love.  As he expounds about why Donald Trump won't win in the NYT (link goes to Vox Popoli, I refuse to link to the NYT), I think it's the responsibility of every real conservative to point and laugh at this pathetic little nebbish.

David Brooks wouldn't know what conservatism was if it jumped up and slapped him in the face.  While he was furiously masturbating over the crease in Obama's jeans in 2008, real conservatives were being shunted to the side by John McCain and the GOP establishment.  The same GOP establishment who cannot understand why Donald Trump is getting the ratings he is, and why their favorite nominee Jeb is polling in single digits.  David Brooks is the product of the GOP establishment, and it shows in how totally and utterly clueless he is about anything other than the GOP establishment's mantra.

Look, I don't know if Donald Trump will win the nomination.  At this point, my money is on Ted Cruz.  Rubio still has a shot, despite his "Gang of 8" travesty.  But what I do know is that David Brooks is so full of shit that if he told me the sky was blue I would go outside to check.  So when the Obama-voting turd starts talking about why Donald Trump won't win, you can be sure that he is absolutely wrong about it.

Scott Weiland is dead

Aged 48.  Don't do drugs, m'kay kids?

This is my favorite STP song.  They've got the bass cranked up to the same volume as the guitar, and it's a melodic bass line that pushes the song forward, not just some plodding one-note one-rythem groove.

Looks like the Jihad has come to California

Syed Farook.  And Tashfeen Malik.

This is what they do in their countries, and this is what they'll do in ours.

Oh, and I'd like to express the joy I felt as I sat a few hours away from a planned assault going down, and knowing that thanks to multiple laws created by brainless, cowardly fuckwits, I was nowhere near a gun that I could use to defend myself if my facility were attacked.

Oh, and racking up yet another "fail" for the media, can someone tell me what "assault-style clothing" is?

Sandy Berger died?

So the worthless, corrupt shitheel who helped Clinton cover up his crimes by stealing national security documents has kicked the bucket.

God only knows what other crimes he committed while he was in the government with Slick Willy and the rest of the criminals.  But I'm pretty sure he's roasting in hell right now.

I know I shouldn't celebrate anyone being sent to hell.  So I'll simply say that I'm happy he can no longer damage this country in any way.

Get off your *&^%!@$# phone!

I don't own a smart phone.  I have one from my job, and it's convinced me that I don't want one.  I still use a flip phone.  A ruggedized one, which has been dropped in the pool once and still works.

If you want to talk to me, call me.  I own an actual phone, not a computer that makes phone calls.

Yes, both the Mrs. and I have screamed at people who almost hit us on the road "GET OFF YOUR *&^%!@#$ PHONE!"  I used to assume that people driving like they'd been lobotomized were either drunk on or drugs.  Now I assume they're on their phone.  And I'm right 95% of the time.

Let's play a game

Let's assume that members of the Catholic Church decided that gays were not only sinners, but they needed to be executed.

Let's assume that these same members of the Catholic faith decreed that women who had abortions were fornicators and murderers, and needed to be stoned to death.

Let's also assume that these same members of the Catholic Church agreed that any and all countries who didn't bow to the Vatican five times a day were infidels and needed to be converted by the sword.

And now let's assume that they actually went out and started doing what they said they were going to do.

What do you assume that I would do in response?  Do you think I would shrug my shoulders, say "Welp, Deus Vult y'all!" and start throwing rocks at women who had been buried up to their shoulders after they were seized coming out of a Planned Parenthood clinic?

Or do you think that I'd be gathering up every single man-jack around me and saying to those people: "This shit ends, and it ends today!  Otherwise, you end today.  Your choice."

I know that the readership of this blog is self-selecting.  Most people who come here do so because they are in agreement with most of what I post.  We're of the same mindset.  Therefore, I can assume that most of you would be standing side by side with me, weapons in hand, telling these people bent on slaughter, subjugation and forced conversion to step the hell off, right the hell now, before we turn their heads into canoes.  And if the Pope himself came down and told me that I needed to convert people by the sword, murder homosexuals and stone women to death, I would tell him that he had perverted the scriptures for his own Earthly gain, and he was not only going to roast in Hell for all of eternity but that I was more than willing to send him there.

But then, I'm a Catholic, not a Muslim.

I know that there are moderate Muslims out there.  I've met them.  I've worked side by side with them.  But as the previous post makes clear, the "Peaceful Majority" is irrelevant.  If they want to be relevant, they need to take up arms, turn to the people of their faith who are killing, raping, and subjugating others, and say "This shit ends, and it ends today.  Or, you end today.  Your choice."  I really think we've come to that point.  If Muslims did not act the way they do, would there be any problem with bringing refugees into this country?

Let me frame it this way:  What if instead of hundreds of thousands of Muslims, it were hundreds of thousands of Copts?  Do you think the reaction would be the same?

You bet your sweet ass it wouldn't.  Because the Copts don't go around raping and murdering people. Not the Peaceful Majority, not even the disgruntled minority.  They.  Don't.  Do.  That.

If the Muslims don't clean their own house, then there will come a point where certain parts of the Middle East acquire a glow that reflects nicely over the flat pane of glass that sits where their cities used to be.  Because the multi-culturalists won't be in power forever.  Nothing lasts forever, and there will come a point where people, frightened, decent people will simply tell those in power "Make it stop!"  And then they'll elect the people who will make it stop.  This is how dictators come to power, and a dictator with a mandate causes horrible things to happen.

The Myth of the "Tiny Radical Muslim Minority"

Because that's what it is.  A myth.  They might not be attacking us, they might not be strapping bombs onto themselves and detonating, but they support those who do.

Which goes straight back to this answer:  The "Peaceful Majority" is irrelevant.

This is standard practice in Socialized health care systems.

Don't actually detect and treat the problem.  Stop testing for the problem and wait for people to die quickly.

Hey, remember when that slimy demonic shithead from Florida claimed that the Republicans just wanted people to die quickly?

If you’re at risk of prostate cancer — in other words, if you’re male — the best place to be is the United States, where survival rates are highest in the world. But not for long, if the Obama administration gets its way in curtailing a test that flags prostate cancer before it spreads.
The administration wants to penalize doctors who routinely order the PSA blood test. Under a proposed policy, those doctors will get demerits for being considered over-spenders, while doctors who skip the test will be rewarded with a high “quality” rating from the government — and be paid more.
The Obama administration claims less care is better. That’s double-talk. An editorial in the current issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association points to a sudden, disturbing drop in prostate-cancer detection since 2011, when the United States Preventive Services Task Force recommended against using this simple test.
Worse, the journal predicts more prostate-cancer deaths due to the drop.

As predicted, Obamacare and every other socialist health care system just wants older patients to die, so they don't have to spend money on them.  Anyone with half a brain could have seen this scenario coming.

But that leaves out Democrat voters, doesn't it?

And since we're talking about Black Friday

And people love to pick on Wal-Mart....

So, the people protesting Wal-Mart to pay $15 an hour don't actually work at Wal-Mart.  Instead, they're people hired by the unions to picket Wal-Mart, called OUR WalMart.  Now, OUR WalMart is a product of the unions who want to get WalMart workers to unionize, but the Wal-Mart workers have refused to unionize several times in the past, much to OUR WalMart's surprise and dismay.  This dismay is compounded by the fact that the people hired by the unions to try to unionize Wal-Mart are not themselves union workers, and when they tried to unionize....

The unions fired them.

So, to surmise:  The unions are trying to unionize a business who's workers don't want to be unionized, but when the non-union workers the big union uses to threaten the business want to unionize themselves the union fires them.

Folks, you just can't make this stuff up.

Oh, and kudos to the workers at Wal-Mart being smart enough to avoid getting sucked into a union.  This ain't the 1920s, and Wal-Mart isn't a coal mine.  The only thing the unions do in this day and age is take perfectly good money out of your paycheck and hand it off to the Democrat party.  My non-union butt made more at my place of employment in Seattle than my unionized co-workers did.  I got more vacation as well.  The unions, having negotiated my co-workers to a pay scale below mine, then took a hefty share of their paychecks as well.

The unions tried to get into my department.  We kicked them to the curb.  Anyone who understands economics in this day and age should do the same.

The best part about Black Friday

is not going to the stores.

No, really.  Everybody is at the stores.  The malls are packed.  The shopping zombies are out in full force, clogging up aisles, filling up parking lots, and generally acting like brainless spoiled dead people.

So what does this mean for your humble correspondent, and indeed for yourself?  It means that if you want to go somewhere else, such as Magic Mountain or Knott's Berry Farm, well....

The lines are short, the crowds are small, and there's no waiting at the attractions you want to see.  I speak from experience on this.

The idiots are shopping.  Avoid the shopping areas, and you'll have a grand time!

Gratitude

I'm thankful that God made a woman who can put up with me for more than five minutes, and I'm thankful that she said "Yes".

I'm thankful for the family that keeps me sane, and reminds me of what real love is.

I'm thankful for the friends who get my sense of humor.

I'm thankful that the Irish invented whiskey.

And I'm thankful that I finally got my orders out of here.

Enjoy your day, folks!

Remember this when you're told "CONSENSUS!!!!"

I mean, despite the fact that science doesn't happen by consensus at all....

A German professor has confirmed what skeptics from Britain to the US have long suspected: that NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies has largely invented “global warming” by tampering with the raw temperature data records.
Professor Dr. Friedrich Karl Ewert is a retired geologist and data computation expert. He has painstakingly examined and tabulated all NASA GISS’s temperature data series, taken from 1153 stations and going back to 1881. His conclusion: that if you look at the raw data, as opposed to NASA’s revisions, you’ll find that since 1940 the planet has been cooling, not warming.

This coincides with the fact that for the past 18 years, satellites that measure global temperature cannot find any evidence what so ever that the earth is getting warmer.  None.

The Global Cooling Global Warming Climate Change fear-mongers lied.  And lied again.  And continue to lie.

The more I hear about higher education

The less I think of it.

Why should journalists know anything about economics or history? That’s the question the journalism department at UNC–Chapel Hill couldn’t answer, and so it has eliminated these basic requirements...

We are producing a nation of imbeciles, and paying handsomely to do so via the university system.  And in the end, we will have a huge group of over-educated half-wits, drooling morons with fancy parchment on their walls, who do not and cannot understand exactly what makes the world go 'round.  Overly-coddled ignorant cry-bullies completely incapable of dealing with the real world, who make a poopy in their pants and demand that you give them a trophy for doing so, while simultaneously demanding that the US taxpayer foot the bill for the Marxist incubation hive they spent four, five, ten years infesting.

Short of a hard science, why in the name of God would I ever suggest that a young person today go to a university?

I laughed my ass off

Yeah.  I did.  I admit it.

Your government at work, Ladies and Gentlemen

Two Veterans Administration officials bilk the government out of a million and a half dollars, and not only do they NOT get fired when they're caught, they're still reimbursed for their moves!

I don't want to reform this government.  I want to burn it to the ground, and sow the embers with salt. Then rebuild it according to the original Constitution, mayhap with a few provisions that anyone caught defrauding the taxpayers be strung up from lamp-posts in the National Mall.

The Annals of the Disgusting

Trust me, don't click on that link.  I read the crap so you don't have to.  I'm only linking to it to prove that it actually exists:  "Feminist" makes bread with yeast from her own vagina.

I can't think of words in the English language to describe how disgusting this is.  This "feminist" needs to be celibate for the rest of her life and let her genetic line die with her.  This is what modern feminism has come to - making bread from yeast that she harvested from her nasty, unwashed cooter. I wonder if the dreadlocks she makes of her pubic hair were harvested as well.

But in the end, this does highlight something important in the modern feminist movement.  The only thing that a modern feminist has of any value is her vagina.  That's it.  Once it's old, tired and worn out, a modern feminist doesn't have anything left.  They don't have any values you want to share.  They don't have anything relating to their personality you want to be around.  A modern feminist is her sexual organ, and that's it.  I won't even say her reproductive system, because I don't know of any real men that would want to reproduce with a modern feminist.  That's the territory of weak, pathetic beta and gamma males who signal their feminism like a dog at the end of the pack order showing it's belly, attempting to curry favor with the bitch/feminists.

(For all you out there shrieking about the word "bitch", it is the grammatically accurate term for a female canine.  Deal with it.)

A modern feminist is her pussy, and nothing more.

A real woman is so much more than her vagina, but a modern feminist wouldn't know what a real woman is if one slapped them across their hairy face.

A righteous bitchslap

Delivered by one John Wright in the comments at Vox Popoli.

Well, I am a freaking Constitutional lawyer with a sheepskin on my wall to prove it, catiff, and I can confirm without doubt that the First Amendment interpretation banning Congress from establishing religion or hindering its free exercise is being outrageously abused and perverted by the High Court rulings, under the doctrine of incorporation, banning prayer in school, crosses on war memorials for the dead, and displays of the Ten Commandments in courthouses.

You can read the post that started the comments, and read down from there.  But that was a bitch-slapping that will leave marks on the face of the target for a long time.

Well, ain't that interesting?

Safari just up and quit.  Had a total and complete catastrophic failure.

I hate to say it, but that's not quite unexpected these days.

Thank God I already had Opera installed!

I might, just maybe...

have a date of escape from this hell.  Just maybe.

More later, if it's confirmed.

The New Media

I've been waiting for someone from the GOP to embrace the New Media.  It's finally happened.

Ted Cruz, baby!

The road to hell is paved with computer programers

I've dealt with multiple Army computer systems, which normally make me want to pull my hair out.

The current system I'm force to use makes me want to find the people who designed it, and beat them to death with a padlock attached to a short length of chain.

They need to be charged with fraud, waste and abuse of government money.

The Peaceful Majority is Irrelevant

And that's the basic truth.

Charlie Sheen is HIV positive?

And has been for years?

Stipendia enim peccati, mors.

The Wages of Sin, is Death.

Now we get to see just how tangled the web of Hollywood hijinks truly is, don't we?

Radioactive levels of stupidity

Just......  fuck.

Clueless incompetent fuckwit arrives late to meeting not about him

Obama can't even show up on time for a moment of silence for Paris.

I actually get angry over the fact that America re-elected this fucking buffoon.

Rousey gets knocked out

I wonder if she had the chance, if she'd go back and delete all the trash-talking she's been doing lately?  She's gone from WWE types of smack-talk to flat out viciousness these days.  And Holly Holm KOed her.

Got home, checked the news

Saw what's going down in Paris.

Ho.  Lee.  Crap.

We'll see if France wakes up, won't we?

Melissa Click is a f**king joke

No, seriously, go check out her "resume".  These are the people "teaching" your kids at universities, if by "teaching" you mean "indoctrinating their students in anti-Constitutional, anti-Capitalist Marxist rhetoric and absolute mental dross".  It's amazing to me that someone that completely idiotic and stupid can hold a position of influence anywhere, but that just shows how far the University of Missouri has fallen.

In other news, if anyone applying for a job at your place of business has a degree from Mizzou, I think you can safely laugh them out of your office.

A good point

Regarding Trump and his critics on his immigration stance:  If you don’t like what Trump is proposing, come up with something better. I’ve yet to hear it from any of you.

I’ve got some bad news for you, sunshine. There’s nobody else on the Republican debate stage who’s come up with anything “realistic” that looks any better and most of them sound far more like Democrat surrender advocates than conservatives. Personally, I’ve grown tired of the disingenuous cable news coverage and the barely concealed scorn (or worse, damnation by faint praise) coming from many of our other candidates.

The vast majority of candidates, Marco Rubio included, favor Amnesty of some sort or another.  The reason Trump surged in the polls and still holds a rather high rating is his stance on illegal immigration.  That should have told the GOP something, but of course the national GOP is tone deaf when it comes to actually listening to the people who it counts on for votes.

Way back when

When I was a "yout", so to speak, I was helping a landscaping guy put in a sprinkler system.  I must have been about 14 or 15, just doing this to make some side cash.  Anyways, this guy was a Korean War vet.  Infantry.  And as we're laying the tubing for the system out, he regales me with some tales of HIS youth marching up and down the Korean coastline.  The Chinese had made a big push, and his platoon was part of a unit that was performing a tactical movement to the rear.  They've got the ChiComs coming down on them like a million pissed-off hornets, and they're screaming for help on just about every radio channel they've got.  Artillery from the Army is occupied elsewhere, and air support wasn't even close to an option, no help from them.  But the Navy has a destroyer close enough to lob some shells their way, and obliges to do so.

This guy relates to how they would get the call for incoming rounds, and they'd hunker down until the rounds landed.  While the dust was still in the air, they'd haul ass down the exit route until the dirty commies would start popping rounds at them again.  Then they'd hunker down and relay another set of coordinates to the destroyer, who would oblige with another barrage.

Unbeknownst to them, a battleship (he claimed it was the Missouri) had picked up the radio chatter, and the Captain decided that he was going to do the landlubbers a solid.  So they steam on over and politely tell the destroyer "Hey, we've got this."  The destroyer dips it's flag and continues on it's way. But nobody tells the Army guys on coast.  Somehow they got left out of the loop, and in the pause between the destroyer launching shells, and the battleship taking over, all the grunts know is that the firing stopped.  And they don't know why.

So they're radioing coordinates, and screaming for help, and wondering where the hell their fire support went, and thinking they were all gonna die.  And as this guy put it, "I was saying my final prayers when the entire ridge-line the commies had infested just disappeared.  Gone.  Turned into dust."  Anybody who was on their feet got flattened by the shockwave.  "We don't know how many of those bastards they took out, but not a single shot was fired in our direction for the rest of the day."  His platoon got on their feet, shook the dust out of their hair, and calmly walked back to the rendezvous point unmolested from that time on.

And apparently he bought a drink for every Sailor he met after that.

I have been privileged to meet many veterans in my life.  I've been able to shake the hands of men who were at Normandy during WWII.  I've had dinner with the men who liberated Italy in that war.  I've known and worked alongside men who fought in Korea, and Viet Nam, and Desert Storm.  And obviously I know and work with people from the current conflict.  I've known Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and even a Coastie or two.

In almost every case, I have been awed by the quality of men who wear that title, who have served, and continue to serve.  I'm going to spend a bit of time today making sure that I thank those people appropriately.  I suggest that you do the same.

On the GOP debates last night

Isn't it amazing what happens when the debate moderators actually moderate instead of attack the people on stage?

Dear Bloggers

If you run a blog that has white script on black background, I won't be reading you.  It's not that I don't like you, but it's that I cannot, literally physically cannot read what you write for more than fifteen seconds.

There are a couple of blogs like this who's authors I absolutely love to read, but I can't do it.  My eyes just won't take it.  Maybe it's just me.  Maybe I'm getting older (*&%# you Father Time!) and can't focus the way I could in my twenties.  But if you have white script on black, more likely than not I'm ending up skipping your writing because I cannot physically read what you put out.

This sucks.  And maybe it's evidence that Father Time hates me and is making me a whiney little bitch.  But I'm hardly the first in that regard, eh?

Here's what your money gets you at Yale

Nope right the fuck off.  All the parents of those infantile little shits might as well take their money and light it on fire in the backyard grill for all the good it does them.

Conversations that people don't have

But probably should:  8 Reasons It Doesn't Get Better For Homosexual Men.

These are discussions that people don't want to have, because modern society is so broken that telling the truth is now a crime.  But that doesn't make it any less true.

Soooo.....

Apparently Ben Carson thinks the Pyramids were built for grain storage.  And people are going nuts over it.

Before any Leftist starts yammering to me about Ben Carson's beliefs, I'm going to ask them what they think the Pyramids were build for.

"Tombs, Dave!  Duh!"  OK, but there are plenty of tombs that aren't in a pyramid at all.  Heck, they've found mummies all over the place.  A tomb is a tomb, and yes, the Pyramids do have tombs in them as far as I know.  But that doesn't specifically designate the entire building as a tomb, or even indicate that the first intended purpose was to be a tomb.

And reading Biblically, Joseph did tell the Pharaoh to store up grain.  Who's to say they didn't do that in the Pyramids?

Bottom line is that nobody actually knows what the Pyramids were built for.  Hell, they still can't explain how they were built at all, other than a mish-mash of theories.  So if Ben Carson thinks they were build to store grain, so be it.  There is not a single bit of evidence out there to really prove him wrong.

On the Media's hit job on Ben Carson

I was pleased to see people punch back almost immediately.  Warmed my heart, it did.

Oh, and in case you need to beat someone over the head with the truth, here it is straight from a recruiter's lips, m'kay?  The US Military Academy, aka West Point, calls it "scholarships".  So when Ben Carson says he was "offered a scholarship", that's probably the exact verbiage that was used.

The Politico piece was a total and complete hit job.  That they've had to re-write it, alter the headline, and continue to walk it back shows just what a dishonest hit job it was, and the fact that anyone even bothers to read that rag in today's age makes me shake my head at the stupidity of it's readers.  Ben Carson calling out Obama's Fan Club, the Media, warms my heart, and it shows that some people in the GOP have finally woken up to the reality that they won't be running against the Democrat in the race, they'll be running against the media itself, which is both the Democrat Propaganda Organ and the Democrat Stenographer Pool.  The same media which has spent the past seven years on it's knees in front of it's Marxist Messiah, the Communist Christ Obama, will now savage anyone on the Right to dares to point out that Obama is a massive clusterfuck of failures tied together by incompetence and narcissism.  Hillary will defeat herself.  She's one of the most unlikeable people in America.  It's only with the media attacking her opponent that she'll win.  So attack the media, because they're the ones doing the real work for the Democrats.

In the meantime, seeing Ben Carson punch the media right on the nose makes me think more of him.

And people pay six figures to go to this place

Yale, apparently, is the place where special coddled snowflakes go to avoid any kind of badthink that might pop their protective bubble of lunacy.

What this tells me is that I shouldn't hire a Yale grad if you want someone who will work for you.  I need people who can handle the real world working for me, not some intellectually fragile child who goes into a shrieking fit at the slightest loss of their private make-believe world.

HEY! Wanna help me win an AR-15?

If you do, go click here and sign up to win one for yourself.  By using that link, you give me extra chances to win.

And it's from Louder with Crowder, who is one of the best Conservative Media guys.  Do it.  DO IT!

Slowly getting better

The sore throat is gone, mostly.  Coughing up some chunks, which is actually an improvement over the past few days.

Maybe I'll feel human in time for Monday, just in time to go back to work.  Crap.

still coughing up crap.  Although with my head feeling like it's full of cement, I now understand how liberals feel on a daily basis.

Went to the Doc today

They looked at me, told me to go home, crawl under a blanket and stay there for a week, or there-abouts.

So I did.

Hoooo-lyyyyyy

Administrators at Vassar College agree to shred the US Constitution after a reporter posing as a student called it "triggering".

No, really.  This happened.

Kill it with fire.  And then sow the ashes with salt, as a warning to any other "educators" who might do the same.

And Ayup again

The GOP establishment designed the nomination process to get their guy the nom.  Their guy is ¡Jeb!

We have studied this road-map intensely.  We have explored the district-by-district level possibilities within each of the pre-March 16th 2016 states a hundred different ways, the numbers for anyone other than Trump just don’t add up.
The GOPe road-map was specifically created to block Ted Cruz, or anyone like Ted Cruz, from achieving victory.
Team Jeb is: Rubio, Fiorina, Christie, Huckabee, Kasich, Perry, Graham, Pataki and Gilmore. (10 establishment candidates all part of the RNC/GOPe machine)  We have outlined it all HERE
If, for the sake of intellectual exercise, you remove Donald Trump from the race and apportion his supporters in a reasonable manner, what you will find is that the GOPe road map kicks back into play – and no non-jeb is able to pull enough support to defeat Jeb.
Remove Trump and Ben Carson becomes Herman Cain 2012; Cruz becomes Gingrich, Jeb replaces Romney and the 2016 outcome becomes 2012 ground-hog day.  Just as designed.
Here’s the kicker…. As previously mentioned, Ted Cruz is a smart guy, and therefore Ted Cruz also is aware of this.
Ted Cruz is fully aware of this – he picked up on it months ago

The GOP would rather lose with their nominee than win with Ted Cruz or Donald Trump.  Or anyone who they can't control.  And if ¡Jeb! becomes the nominee, I'm voting for either the Libertarian or Constitutionalist party.  I will not vote for Jeb.  Period.  He's the Vanilla Obama.  And he will never get my vote

Ayup

Stolen from here.

Oh yay. Halloween

This used to be my favorite holiday.  I'd get dressed up in whatever I could imagine and go have fun.  One time my friends and I dressed up as the Four Tops and sang "Earth Angel" for our candy.

As I got older I worked in haunted houses and had a great time.  I got so good at scaring people that between my friend and I, we accidentally made a girl pee herself in fear.  That wasn't our goal, but it quickly became our goal after that.

In my twenties, I'd get dressed up and go to whatever parties I could find.

In my thirties, I'd get dressed up and sit outside, handing candy to kids, and typically hot cocoa or cider to the parents.  But the last time I did that was in Wisconsin, where sitting outside and talking to people was enjoyable.

I haven't passed out one single bit of candy here in LA.  The first year we got a couple bags, and not one kid came to the door.  I gave it all away at the office the next day.  Year after that, we didn't even bother turning on our porch light.

It's not that I don't like Halloween anymore, but maybe it's not the same holiday that I remember.

Paul Ryan is the new Speaker

This, after John Boehner made good and sure that the GOP establishment screwed this country over as hard as possible with the budget deal.

If there's an official portrait of House Speakers, the picture of John Boehner needs to be of him on his knees, giving Obama a blowjob while Harry Reid is pissing on his head.

That whole argument...

Why are women who sleep around sluts and whores, but men who sleep around brag about it?

Well, first you have to ask yourself what the primary motivation for sleeping around is.  And guess what, all you modern "feminists" out there, it's not what you've been peddled in your Gender Studies class.

The trouble isn’t men, of course. Nor is it the culture. The trouble is that these women have been sold a lie. They’ve been told that the profound sexual and behavioural differences between men and women are merely matters of individual preference, which would largely dissolve if we ever managed to shed our noxious cultural baggage.
Nothing could be further from the truth, of course.

Heinlein on Patriotism

Folks who know me know that Heinlein is one of, if my my most favorite authors.  I knew that he had served in the Navy prior to WWII.  I did not know that he gave a speech to the graduating class of Annapolis.

It's here, if you want to read it.  And you should read it.

Patriotism is as necessary a part of man's evolutionary equipment as are his eyes, as useful to the race as eyes are to the individual. A man who is NOT patriotic is an evolutionary dead end. This is not sentiment but the hardest of logic.

Read it.  It's a short speech as speeches go.  But it's packed full of wisdom, as Heinlein is.

Music for your Sunday

Over an hour of chant, if you're into that sort of thing.  I'll be listening to this while doing my homework today.

This is how far the Catholic Church has fallen

When an archbishop, a leader in the church, supposedly one of the most educated, theologically trained individuals the Church has, utters these words:

“We use that word “reconciliation” all the time.  It doesn’t mean about giving people forgiveness. It comes from an anatomical root, namely the eyelash, it is called a cilia. So you begin to see eye-to-eye with people.”

That is straight-up hocum, flat-out balderdash, utter rubbish, and outright bullshit.  How can this supposed man of God help people reconcile themselves to Christ when he cannot even accurately define the word "reconciliation"?

Folks, if you're still attending a Novus Ordo mass, find the nearest traditional chapel and start going there.  The more I hear coming out of the Novus Ordo groups, the more I fear that everyone going to a Novus Ordo mass is heading down the wrong path.

Coming to America soon

Just as soon as Obama can get his refugees I mean, um..  muslim brothers er, his Future Democrat Voters imported from the Middle East.

One woman described how Muslim men repeatedly cut in front of her at the supermarket checkout line. "Twice while shopping at a German supermarket I was shown that I am a second-class citizen," she wrote. In one instance, an adult Muslim male with a full shopping cart cut in front of her. In broken German he said: "I man. You woman. I go first." In another instance, a young Muslim male elbowed the woman while cutting in front of her. "When I said that I would let him go ahead of me if he asked me for permission, I was instructed by his sister that boys do not need to ask, they just demand."
A teacher at a vocational school wrote: "The most problematic students are Muslim males, who do not acknowledge the authority of female teachers and who disrupt the classes."
A mother reported that during a visit to her daughter's school, she approached a fully-veiled female refugee and asked her if she could be of help to her. "A man with a fancy suit and a three-day beard, he seemed like out of a Hugo Boss fashion magazine, said: 'My wife does not speak the language of the unclean.' When I asked him who here was unclean, he said I was. I asked him what that means. He said it was nothing against me personally, because all German women are unclean, and that his wife should not speak the language of the unclean, so that she can remain clean."

You know,  before you start importing massive amounts of people from other countries, maybe you want to take a look at what those people do as a matter of course in those countries.

Of course, parasitic leeches on society who violate and demean women while destroying the rule of law are a bonus for the Democrat Party.

Bush campaign may be ending

Good.  We don't need the Vanilla Obama running for 2016.  If you want an amnesty-loving, big-government shill for the big-money donor class, we've had that in the White House for the past seven years, and we don't need any more.

Crap like this

is why I'll be happy when the Democrat Stenographer Pool that we currently have as the "media" finally die, shrivel up and blow away:  "Palestinians shot boarding kids' bus"

That statement, were you to look at it without context, states that innocent Palestinians were just shot getting onto a kids' bus.  Was it their kids' bus?  A school bus?  Who knows?

What actually happened is that yet another group of sub-human terrorists attempted to massacre a group of Jewish children, and were shot before they could carry out their terrorist plans.

What other headlines could have been used?  "Terrorists prevented from plan".  "Palestinians shot before attacking kids' bus".  "Terrorist plot stopped".  Hell, I bet you could come up with better alternate headlines in five seconds.

But no, not our Leftist media, which hates the state of Israel and luuuuuurves them some musloid terrorism.  So it's "Palestinians shot boarding kids' bus".

I hope CNN dies.  Painfully.

So....

Hillary Clinton had her time to lie through her teeth to Congress.

Think anything will change?

Think the GOP will actually do anything about her lies?

Nope.

That's why the non-politicians are so high in the polls right now.

I think I may have a problem

Went out and picked up another ukulele today, this time a Pineapple uke with a huge sound.

So, are stringed instruments an addiction?

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

Just shut the hell up, W.

Just shut up, OK?  You don't like Cruz?  After being unwilling to defend yourself for your eight years in office, and after keeping your mouth shut as pResident Putt-Putt put the flight path of this country into a nose dive we might not get out of, the one person you're popping off about is Ted Cruz?

Really?

I mean, no, really?

Nothing about Trump, nope.  Nothing about any of the other witless establishment hacks who offer nothing but more failure.  But Cruz, you're willing to snipe at?

Well, I guess that tells us more about you than it does about Cruz, Dubya.

Up and out this morning

Way too early.  Out late for happier reasons.  Sorry 'bout the lack of posting.

And as the GOP establishment squeals

"B-b-b-b-b-but TRUMP ISN'T CONSERVATIVE!!!!"

Yeah.  I know.  That's happening a lot in the GOP these days.

A Republican candidate for New York’s 19th congressional district is an Obama donor, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission (FEC).
Andrew Heaney, a heating oil executive, maxed out to President Obama’s first campaign, donating $2,300 in 2007.

It's called "The Stupid Party" for a reason......

Anther 4th Quarter Collapse by the Seahawks

They'd better get some things taken care of, and do it now.  They don't have the luxury of losing any more games if they want to make the playoffs.

Stepping Out

Going out for a day with my Mrs.  Please feel free to do whatever you want around the place, so long as you leave me a bottle of scotch.

How wrong is it

That I'm ecstatic that it's "only" going to get up to 90 degrees on October 15th?

Fuck this city.  Fuck it straight to hell.  Hell might just be cooler.

Normal content would go here.

But I got nothing.  Been putting in too many hours at the widget factory.  Blogroll to the right if you want to be entertained.

The Donk debate was last night

And they Democrat party as finally come out of the closet and announced that they're Socialists.  Finally.
So, about that whole ukulele thing....

Yeah. That ain't me.  But I'd like to get halfway there, at least.

I'd say "When this comes to America"

But if you live in an urban area, you understand it's already here.

Just different languages, same kind of people with the same result.

Since I sense some sci-fi geekery going on at this blog

I'm going to link to this post over at John C Wright's place, regarding the Sci Phi Mag.  It's a publication of science fiction stories that you actually WANT TO READ, rather than the wussified, SJW-driven dreck put out by modern publishing companies.  Apparently they're struggling a bit, as modern print publications seem to be doing.  BUT....  this ain't Time Magazine, this is a magazine of good authors and good stories.  They have a donation button if'n ya want to just give them money, but I think the better approach would be to just order the magazine itself.

I just snapped up edition #5.

Oh, and have I recommended Wright's Somewither yet?  I may have back when I read it.  Let me recommend it again.

Neural Pathways and music

There's quite a bit of evidence out there that says when children learn music at an early age, they do better on education later in life.  You've set some neural pathways early on that help with learning math, languages, etc.  I took piano lessons as a kid, moved on to violin (for one year), then drums and vocals.

I always wanted to learn to play some sort of stringed instrument.  My brother plays guitar and bass.  My dad played a little guitar in his youth.  And being able to play and sing at the same time sounds much better on a stringed instrument than on drums.  You can accompany yourself when you play chords instead of beats.

So...  I got a ukulele.

STOP LAUGHING!

For a soprano uke, a case to carry it, and some basic learning materials I paid less than $80.  If I manage to get good at it, I'll upgrade the uke.

But to get back to my main point, if learning an instrument at a young age helps the brain, what does learning an instrument at a (cough) slightly older age do for you?  I'm about to find out, I guess.  My current job has made me stupid.  That's the only way I can describe it.  It's a boring, mindless, repetitive job that requires little-to-no brainpower, and I can actually see the decline in mental ability over the past three years.  To be frank, that both scares me and pisses me off.  That's part of the reason I'm taking college classes again, and between those classes and picking up an instrument and learning not only how to play it but chord progression and musical theory should help me recover what I've lost.

Besides, it'll help break the ice at parties, don't you think?

When your pals rail against the 1%

Ask them why they hate Obama and his supporters so much.

On October 10 President Obama talked about gun control and the Oregon shooting at “$33,400-a-ticket” Hollywood fundraiser for the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee.
The fundraiser at Abrams’ home is believed “to have raised over $750,000 for Democratic Party war chest.”
 (.....)
After leaving Abrams’ home Obama attended a “private concert by Jamie Foxx” in another Pacific Palisades’ homes. Tickets for the concert were $1,000, with the proceeds going to the PAC Obama for America and the Democrat National Committee (DNC). Then, at 5:40 pm, Obama went “to the home of interior designer Michael S. Smith for a $10,000-per-ticket event for the Democrat Hope Fund and the DNC.”
Anyone here able to shell out over $33,000 for a single ticket to an event?  Anyone?

Anyone?

Didn't think so.  Rub this in the hypocrite's faces.

And this dude is a pastor at a "Christian" church

A)  Pretty sure Jesus was Jewish, being born of King David's line and all.  Lemme check my bible.

Yep.  Jewish.  The "Palestinians" didn't exist then, since they're nothing but a made-up group of people that other Arabs don't like and don't want to deal with.

B)  For the Left, Politics trumps all, including the Lord and Savior of the world.  They are that far gone.

Safety is an illusion

"It is a temporary bubble of psychological security created by loving parents to protect children, until they slowly become adult enough to face the reality of a dangerous world."

Bill Whittle is a National Treasure, y'all.

Remember the movie "Dune"?

Loved the book, by the way.  LOVED IT.  The movie was kinda "meh", but that's what happens when you try to pack a book like Dune into an hour-and-a-half movie.

Anyways, in the movie there's this one mantra from a Mentat where he goes off - "It is by Will alone I set my mind in motion"....

Anyways, I'm not a Mentat, nor to I play one one TV, but I do enjoy some good Sci-Fi drama and I'm a caffeine addict like most geeks are, and well..

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion
It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed
The hands acquire shakes
The shakes become a warning
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion

I'm going to print that out and have it pinned to the wall above my desk.  See who recognizes it.

Rule #3: SJWs always PROJECT

Ain't that right, Syd?  Eh?

Go read Trey Gowdy's letter to Elijah Cummings.  I didn't know Sydney Blumenthal had business interests that would allow him to profit from war in Libya, did you?  Huh.  And he was pushing for Hillary Clinton to go to war in Libya.  Gosh, I wonder why?

Hey, remember all those times Republicans have been accused of wanting to go to war in order to make money?

Yeah.

Some folks CAN find reality

Especially when it's thrust into their faces.  Good on 'em.

A Bradford based charity will now only be helping genuine refugees near Syria after they woke up to the fact that those in the Calais “Jungle” camp are almost exclusively fit young men, who are “happy” to be there and not fleeing danger.
The charity was tired of unwanted donations being left to spoil by the economic migrants.
All of these men running into Europe looking to live off of the welfare states are not "refugees", just like the Mexicans rushing to live in America for free are not "refugees".  At best, they are illegal immigrants.  At worst, they are invaders, and as much as I hate people coming into the USA illegally, at least I can say they have less of a chance of being terrorists than the muslims currently invading Europe.

Well, if it's good enough for the world's oldest woman....

Apparently I must eat eggs, grits and bacon every day.

Every.  Day.

The world's oldest woman, Susannah Mushatt Jones, swears that she was able to reach her ripe old age of 116 through a consistent diet of eggs, grits and bacon for breakfast. There is even a sign posted on her kitchen that says, "Bacon makes everything better,"

Seriously.  Bacon.  Every day.  It's for your life!

The Sierra Club is full of shit

And you can literally count the number of boilerplate BS "arguments" that come dropping out of Aaron Mair's  mouth like pies out of a cow's ass.  And Ted Cruz rips him a new one.

Anthropogenic Global Warming is a religion, folks.  There is more evidence of the existence of God, than there is evidence of Anthropogenic Global Warming.  The only way people continue to push AGW is through faith and belief in their prophets and messiahs, and they resort to Hare Krishna like mantras which they repeat over and over and over and over in order to deflect facts, logic, reason, and truth.

The cannot explain how Greenland got green when there were no SUVs to blame it on.  They cannot explain the Little Ice Age.  They cannot explain the pause.  All they can do is turn back to repeatedly debunked falsified studies, and then say "The Science is SETTLED!"

Say, what's science say about cholesterol these days, anyways?

Ragin' Dave's Quote of the Day, Have you ever Kippled edition

From a commenter at Vox Popoli.

In the Obama bungle we were promised an end to strifewhich started by taking a toke and calling a man your wifeBut though we had plenty of laws there was nothing our laws could stopand the Gods of the Copybook Headings said "it's a long way down from the top"

Most Congresscritters today either never read Kipling, or they can't understand why he wrote what he did.

It's called "Surrender"

World's first Lesbian Bishop calls for church to remove crosses, point way to Mecca.

I just....  I mean, OK, it's not the Catholic Church, but shouldn't a Christian Bishop defend their flock?

Calling Muslim guests to the church “angels“, the Bishop later took to her official blog to explain that removing Christian symbols from the church and preparing the building for Muslim prayer doesn’t make a priest any less a defender of the faith. Rather, to do any less would make one “stingy towards people of other faiths”.

Well, I'm certain the muslims in Sweden appreciate her surrender.  Now she just needs to wear a burkha like a good infidel and be stoned to death for her homosexuality, and the muslims will be appeased!

I'm certain that'll work out just fine, right?  Right?  Or maybe not.  Maybe, just maybe, a person who claims to be a leader in a Christian church ought to defend their faith against people who would murder you for daring to not bow to their pedophile prophet.  Although an actively lesbian bishop is about as "Christian" as a goat in a mitre, so anything she does or doesn't do really can't be considered out of bounds.

And in other news, the Vatican has fired a bishop who came out as gay.

"I have to say who I am. I am a gay priest. I am a happy and proud gay priest,"

No, you are not.  You are not a priest, anymore than a man cheating on his wife is a "husband".  Your boyfriend with whom you violate your vows of celibacy on a daily basis is not your "husband" either.

Look folks, if I cheated on my wife, if I was unfaithful, if I broke the vows of chastity that I took when I married her, would you listen to me on any matter of morals?  And yes, when you get married you take a vow of chastity, to be faithful to your wife and your wife only.  A priest, when he is ordained, takes a vow of celibacy, no sexual contact with anyone, period.  He is supposed to be faithful to the church he serves.

A priest who violates those vows, and then stands up and says he is happy and proud, is not any kind of a priest that needs to be followed or listened to.  He should be prayed for.  He should be pitied, for having fallen so deep into sin that he celebrates the perverted and shuns the sacred vows he took.  But he should absolutely be removed and de-frocked.

Look, it's simple.  You can believe in Christianity, and in Christian values.  Or you can believe in modern values that have little to do with Christianity.  But if you hold to the latter, you cannot claim to be a priest of the former.
