Ragin' Dave's Quote of the Day, Procreation edition

Procreation is the biological purpose of sex, after all, and as the Contraceptive Culture encourages us to have unnatural sex — to thwart the natural purpose of sex — it also disconnects sex from love, marriage and parenthood, so that sex becomes a meaningless recreation of no more ultimate consequence than a video game.

Sex, as like everything else, has complex biological functions, reactions and counter-reactions that are part and parcel to the act.  One of those functions is the production of hormones that literally cause us to bond with our sexual partner on an emotional level.

However, those bonds are funny little things; the more you make and subsequently break, the harder it is to build another bond with a different person.  It all boils down to brain chemistry.  A bond you make with one person, so long as you're faithful to them, gets stronger over time.  Humans are literally meant to bond with a partner and stick with them.  We're designed for monogamy, believe it or not.  But having partner after partner after partner leaves the brain worn out, as it attempts to build those chemical links that provide emotion with person after person after person, until the brain figures out that it's not worth trying to boost that neural link, given that it's going to be discarded after 24 hours.  So after a lengthy period of promiscuous sex, it is now harder to bond with your sexual partner, and less likely that you'll have an emotional attachment with them.

So in other words, there is a very good chance that your promiscuous lifestyle can screw up your marriage later.

Is it any wonder that the divorce rate is so high?

Quote taken from R.S. McCain.

I keep thinking that my use of the term perversion is not judgmental. But nobody listens to me.
