Washington State O.K.'s expanded domestic partner rights

Even though this was not allowed to go to the voters, probably due to fear it wouldn't pass, I think we need to call this a win.

1: it is not a marriage, it is a domestic partnership, so it has not changed the definition of marriage

"Same-sex couples have the right to form meaningful relationships. But I don't think they have the right to redefine marriage for all of us," said Sen. Janea Holmquist, R-Moses Lake.

2: it was done through the proper channels.

3: domestic partnerships must be registered, much like marriage, only this is the same sex version.

As of Tuesday, 5,112 domestic partnership registrations had been filed since the law took effect in July 2007
